SUNSHINE FARM - Oldham County, Kentucky
After 30 years of being profitable in the vegetable and produce business, Les and Pam Snyder, of Sunshine Farm, have decided to retire.
This productive 32.8 acre farm (with 25 acres tillable) is located a few miles east of LaGrange, KY in Beautiful Oldham County. The farm is just 25 miles northeast of metropolitan Louisville, KY in a bedroom community which is home to one of the state's best school systems. In 2012, Oldham County was named the healthiest county in the state.
The Snyders started producing vegetables for the Louisville wholesale market, but have changed their production to consumer direct sales through their CSA and the multiple farmers markets they attend. The owners have agreed to stay with the new owners from planting to harvesting and into the start of the farmer's markets. They have built a great reputation and following from their direct sales customers for over 10 years.
The 50' x 100' barn allows storage for equipment and everything needed to run a successful business. The 2 greenhouses and high tunnel allow great versatility in extending the season.
Located less than a mile off state highway 146, this farm allows easy access for both large trucks and consumers. The city water and the farm's watering systems keep the vegetable crops productive during dry seasons.
With the Louisville public schools and restaurants following the "buy local" movement, the wholesale opportunities for this farm are endless.
The 30 year old, 2,000 sq. ft. home with a finished basement was added on to 10 years ago and was recently re-sided, re-roofed, and updated.
The sale price of $665,000 will include the 32.8 acres, the home, barn, greenhouses and ongoing established business. The farming equipment, tools, trucks, and farmer's market displays, etc., are available at reasonable prices.
